Volunteering

Soaring Spirit Therapeutic Equestrian Center
depends on the committed hard work of many volunteers to continue the success of our program! We are very grateful for your contribution of service to our students. Most people find volunteering at Soaring Spirit to be incredibly rewarding, educational, and fun!

Requirements:
Volunteers do not need to have horse experience. Volunteers are offered lessons for themselves at a discounted rate. This is recommended (but not required), especially for people new to horses.
To assist lessons, you must be able to walk and occasionally jog for several lessons. This could be up to 4 hours, with several breaks from the physical activity. You will need to be able to stay focused and alert at all times.

Weekly Volunteers:
Most volunteers commit to one half day per week. They assist with lessons by sidewalking or leading the horse, making it possible for a rider with challenges to be safe, relaxed, and focused while riding.
Volunteers also help care for the horses and the facility. They get the horses ready for lessons, clean stalls, and feed the horses.

Other Volunteer help needed:
Some volunteers may also be available to assist on an "on call" basis, and are available when a weekly volunteer is sick or out of town.

Soaring Spirit also needs help with the following:
Fund-raising
Bookkeeping
Fence repair and building
Pasture maintenance
Tractor work!
Web design
Horse care and training
